Junwei Tan represented Gateway Intermediate Charter School at the Thomas Alva Edison Regional Science Fair. His project, that was based on Darrieus and Savonius Models, entitled “Putting a Spin on Energy: Comparing the efficiency of designs on a vertical axis wind turbine for application in low wind urban and suburban environments” earned him the following awards:
*1st place in the category of Engineering
*Best of Fair in middle school out of 250+ projects
*2 scholarships–$2500 to Florida Gulf Coast University & $4000 cash scholarship
Junwei will be advancing to the State Science Fair held March, 27th – 29th, in Lakeland.We can’t wait to see what future success awaits this talented young scientist!
